日本人對一種形似大號蟑螂的等足類深海生物產生了莫名的迷戀。這類海洋生物在日本迅速風靡。它不僅在網路上頻繁亮相，飯店商家還將香腸雕成其形狀作為開胃菜。日本一模型製作廠商抓住這一熱潮，推出等足類海洋生物形狀的模型玩具，以吸引顧客目光。

環球網據日本新聞網站『rocketnews24』報導，據了解，這種模型玩具被商家命名為『等足香腸吉祥物』，自動販賣機有售，每個售價200日元(約合台幣50元)。普通的模型共有紅、白、棕三種顏色。商家還額外推出兩種特別版『 吉祥物』。一種是可以搖晃擺動的『奔跑著的等足香腸』。另一種是大號的等足香腸，長度在5.8公分到6.8公分之間。這對等足類海洋生物愛好者來說，可是一個驚喜。
