陳菊自行宣布連任高雄市長

高雄市長陳菊在晚間7點已經自行宣布順利連任。陳菊抵達競選總部，向支持民眾表達謝意，高雄市7月31日雖歷經氣爆巨災，陳菊幾乎放下競選活動，全力救災，因此氣爆對選情並未造成太大的衝擊，民調一路領先國民黨提名的候選人楊秋興。高雄市登革熱疫情升高，也成為對手攻擊重點，但陳菊南霸天地位依然屹立不搖，以98萬多票大勝楊秋興的44萬多票，順利為民進黨守住高雄市執政權。
