澳洲研究　南極企鵝攜H11N2病毒

澳洲研究人員去年1月至2月，在南極採集大約300隻阿德利企鵝（Adélie penguins）的血液等樣本，結果在其中8個樣本中發現了H11N2型禽流感病毒。

專家表示儘管曾在企鵝血液樣本中發現過流感抗體，但發現南極企鵝或南極鳥類攜帶禽流感病毒還是第一次。

當把這種病毒與現有人類及動物流感病毒數據庫進行基因組序列比較時，研究人員發現，H11N2型禽流感病毒與其他已知的任何禽流感病毒都不同。研究人員猜測，它可能已在南極企鵝身上存活並演化了數十年，攜帶H11N2型禽流感病毒的企鵝並未表現出患病症狀。此外，當用這種病毒攻擊雪貂時，雪貂未被感染。雪貂是流感病毒感染試驗的常用動物，因此這說明H11N2型禽流感病毒可能不會感染人類或其他哺乳動物。

不過發現南極企鵝攜帶禽流感病毒，引起許多沒有答案的疑問，包括各種禽流感病毒毒株傳播至南極的頻率，高致病性禽流感病毒是否有可能傳播至南極，H11N2型禽流感病毒會在哪些動物或生態系統中存活，以及是否會在冬天被天然冷凍保存繼而復甦等。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
