Josh Smith遭到底特律活塞釋出，根據《ESPN》報導，邁阿密熱火向NBA聯盟申請傷病特例，增加薪資空間以利爭取加盟。

今年戰績低迷的活塞，決定釋出高薪球員Josh Smith，總教練Stan Van Gundy認為他出手偏多卻效率不佳。

Josh Smith包含本季在內，還有3年4200萬美元的大型合約，未來48小時之內其他球隊可選擇接手。若超過時限，活塞就必須認賠支付薪水，Josh Smith則可與其他隊伍談約加盟。

大前鋒Josh McRoberts因傷本季報銷，熱火向NBA聯盟提出傷病特例(Disabled Player Exception)，使得可以開給Josh Smith今年的薪水提升到265萬美元(原為140萬美元)。

另外休士頓火箭也對Josh Smith有興趣，他們還有210萬美元能夠運用，「魔獸」 Dwight Howard跟他的好交情也許會產生作用。
