菲律賓衛生部表示，上週從沙烏地阿拉伯回國的一名菲律賓女護士，經檢測對中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒(MERS-CoV)呈陽性反應，這是菲律賓首次出現這種致命傳染病個案。

菲律賓衛生部發言人李蘇伊(Lyndon Lee Suy)表示，這名女護士正在熱帶醫學研究所(Research Institute for Tropical Medicine)接受治療，她出現了發燒、咳嗽、呼吸困難、身體疼痛等症狀，與中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒的病人類似，但目前狀況穩定。

李蘇伊又說，衛生當局正在聯繫追蹤這名女護士搭乘的沙烏地航空公司編號860航班上的另外225名乘客；女護士的丈夫也搭乘2月1日的這個航班，但他的檢測呈陰性反應。

沙烏地阿拉伯於2012年通報首例中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒個案，截至目前，確診個案中約有三成患者病故。

已有9個中東國家和其他地區的13個國家出現相關個案，如今再加上菲律賓。

根據世界衛生組織(WHO)，至少有965人感染中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒，其中357人病故。
