平板電腦受到替代產品增加（平板手機、變形平板），以及使用壽命延長，根據顧能（Gartner）預測，今年全球平板出貨約2.3億台，年增11%，較去年的55%年增率大為下降。

顧能估計，今年全球裝置（含PC、平板、變形平板、二合一平板與手機等）合計的出貨量預估將達24億支，較2013年增加3.2%，其中平板占比不到一成，僅9.5%。

顧能研究總監阿特瓦（Ranjit Atwal）表示，隨著傳統PC、不同款式的變形平板及手機之間的關聯日漸複雜，裝置市場持續演進。某些平板使用者不會以平板汰換平板，而是偏好變形或二合一裝置。同時顧能估計，由於平板的使用年限拉長，也使得平板電腦的成長呈現趨緩。
