多雨的夏天、遲到的秋日，義大利的天公不作美，導致今年的橄欖產量銳減。農牧協會推估，2014年義大利整體的橄欖油產量將下滑3成。

多雨的夏日導致害蟲叢生，「橄欖果實蠅」（Bactrocera oleae）肆虐，造成許多果實腐壞。

義大利農牧協會（Coldiretti）估計，今年的橄欖油產量可能只有30萬公噸，較去年下滑30%。

專攻高端市場，並多次贏得特級初榨橄欖油競賽的文杜里尼（Paolo Venturini）告訴中央社記者，「我們一家四代從事橄欖油生產，從沒遇過這麼差的收成」。

他說，「不只收成減少，過多的雨量也讓今年的橄欖失去風味」。

在義大利中部恩伯利亞（Umbria）的產量甚至可能減少5成到6成。當地的農牧協會主席阿加比堤（AlbanoAgabiti）表示，將尋求地方政府介入，協助受損嚴重的農民度過難關。但他也說，「資源有限，而且歐洲聯盟可能反對」。(中央社)
